Reggae Takeova began in a backyard bbq in Dorchester, Massachusetts.

 

Bringing people together through music, food and community. 

What started as small gatherings fueled by sound, friendship, and shared culture quickly grew into something bigger.

As we celebrate 10 years in 2026, both the music and the community around it remain at the heart of everything we do. 

​

Founded in 2016, by two friends, Daniel and Nico, Reggae Takeova was built on a simple vision, to showcase local roots artists and musicians throughout the northeast. From Boston, Massachusetts to Maine, Vermont, and Rhode island, the goal was clear, bring authentic reggae to the people and strengthen the connection to a culture that was often underrepresented in these spaces.

Rooted in community and driven by sound, roots reggae is more than music, its culture, rhythm and a powerful way for people to connect. 

That foundation has shaped every event we've supported and every message we continue to carry forward today.

 

Today, Reggae Takeova brings international artists from around the world, showcasing global reggae talent to audiences across the northeast while staying true to our original mission. 

 

What began as a passion has grown into a brand that celebrates reggae culture at its core.
